Authorities mentioned they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important official commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
